Why am I writing down my thoughts?

Its been almost 5 years since I heard about this "blog" phenomena. I was told, people are pouring their hearts out and finding solace in it. How some are exploring the creative sides of themselves. Etc etc.

I was wondering, should I start a blog of my own? It has taken 5 long years for me to consider this thought. Initially I was hesitant, because I thought blogging amounted to posting one's innermost thoughts in a public arena, which is subject to intense scrutinisation. Now, I wondered, how can anyone ever judge my thoughts or would even consider reading my thoughts, when his own thought process is wavering and wandering in this fast paced world.

In these five years, I have read the blogs of many people. Some were friends, some were total strangers, and the most striking and unifying thing about them was their attention to details. There are countless events happening in one's life, some as a matter of routine, some new experiences. But, do we ever pause to reflect on them? Do we even have the time for that? By writing down, you put down your thoughts on paper and it is there, forever. Period.

Later on in life, when you go back to these small observations you made as a child/teenager/graduate/lover/spouse you will realise, how you have evolved as a person.

Blogging for me, is not a test of my poetic english quotient, or a daily diary, or a stress-releasing activity or some thing done to pass time.

I am doing this to get in touch with myself.

have u contacted her yet? (yourself i mean :).. since ure blogging to get in touch with yourself)..

i blog for a variety of reasons.. sometimes blogging is a way to spread a message i want to, like environmentalism for example.. sometimes it just lets me vent my frustration.. sometimes an output for my creativity (watever i have left of it after phd :) ).. and anyways its a bare minimum of a timepass-hobby and a way to keep my writing skills sharpened..

so well.. why ask for any more reasons? just blog :)
